We are surrounded by distractions. People are busier than ever. This keeps a lot of people from knowing who Jesus is and surrendering their life to Him. If this is you, and you have never been saved, please read www.DontForfeit.com. If you are a Christian, the distractions are likely just as common for you. Sometimes the temptations of the world draw us in and cause us to lead a sinful lifestyle. Other times we allow good things, like work and family, to take our focus off of Jesus Christ. Even if we're actively trying to serve Him, we can get distracted, and our attention can be put on the "doing" instead of on Christ Himself. I love the old song Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus. It was written in 1922 by Helen H. Lemmel. The chorus says the following: Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. When our focus is on anything but Jesus, we need to return Him to His rightful position as the #1 focus in our life. If we view Him correctly, we will recognize that the things of this world cannot compare to Him. True joy, peace, contentment and forgiveness can only be found in Him. Hebrews 12:2 says, "Looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God." Colossians 3:1-3 says, "If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." |
